The restaurant is very clean and well-run. The soba noodles are made in-house. They have both warm and cold soba. They have udon noodles, too, but these aren't made in-house. You can choose the amount of noodles (1-3) and there is no charge for choosing the larger portion. The staff here are friendly. The draft beer is usually good. The atmosphere feels very Japanese.
Great lunch spot if you're looking for your soba and udon craving. Great size portion, too. Besides, soba and udon they have plenty of different rice dishes to choose from.
After discovering this gem on Google Maps, I had been meaning to visit for several weeks and I’m truly delighted that I finally did. The experience exceeded all expectations. The food is nothing short of exceptional delicious, beautifully prepared, and remarkably authentic, rivaling dishes I’ve had in Japan. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between casual and inviting, and the staff are genuinely kind and attentive. Their menu is impressively extensive almost overwhelming at first but given the outstanding quality of the dishes I tried, I look forward to exploring it fully. The soba noodles paired with shrimp tempura rice were outstanding transporting me straight to Tokyo with each bite. The yuzu chicken, in particular, was unforgettable; tender, flavorful, and enhanced by the bright, addictive umami of yuzu. It’s easily the best chicken dish I’ve had in quite some time. The spicy tuna roll was equally impressive fresh, balanced, and deeply satisfying. This restaurant is a rare find, and I can’t wait to return and continue discovering more of what they have to offer.
I've had this spot bookmarked for a little over 6 years, however long they've been open. I finally had the chance to do lunch here with my husband yesterday (1/18/2025). We came right at opening and sat at the long counter in front of the kitchen. Wanted to check out the action! The menu has expanded from one page to six which is really exciting. They have great portions, prices, and options from appetizers, dessert, array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, rice bowls, udon, soba, katsu, combination sets, and now sushi (only served on the weekends). My husband was impressed and quite satisfied with his Nagoya Pork Katsu & Soba (cold) set. Our server Divine recommended the 2-portion over the 3-portion of soba. She was right that 3-portion is ALOT! Pork katsu was perfectly breaded and fried. Crispy and juicy at the same time. His set was like having two meals for the price of one. Delicious and very filling. My Agedashi tofu was so flavorful, with a thick broth. I especially enjoyed the hint of ginger with the shredded white radish topping. My order of curry udon came piping hot with plenty of noodles and sliced beef topping. I appreciated our server also providing optional chili powder topping on the side too. Our small pot of genmaicha was just what we needed to round out the rich lunch. I didn't get a chance to try out dessert or their drinks, so maybe next time! Clean establishment, wonderful menu choices, and professional staff. We will definitely be back to try more! PS - I encourage dining at the long counter. It was so cool to watch chef make the yakitori and add all the finishing touches to every dish. It was almost like watching Top Chef right in front of you. All her kitchen staff moved as one team despite their dedicated stations.
I had such a lovely lunch with my niece! Our server was super friendly and made us feel right at home—if only I could remember her name! She was so accommodating. I enjoyed a delicious chicken curry with udon soup, and for appetizers, we shared some crispy fried tofu and tasty takoyaki. Plus, the restaurant has lots of parking and is tucked away in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Perfect outing!
Small Japanese cafe Ambiance. There was a small wait due to its popularity and we went on a Friday night. Service was super quick. Our waiter talked a little too fast and we only understood 90% of what he was saying but understood the most important parts. Had the Takoyaki which was delicious. Each ball had a bite of octopus in the center. Great flavor. The tempura was also very good. Not too much batter which is the way I like it. The curry pork cutlet and hot udon combo was larger than I thought. They were both delicious and it was too much for me to finish. The beef soba noodles were my favorite. Light yet full of flavor.
I absolutely loved this soba restaurant! It felt like stepping into a little piece of Japan. The ambiance was incredible, and the servers wearing kimonos added to the authentic feel. The food quality was outstanding—everything was delicious, from the soba and udon to the tempura and appetizers. I particularly enjoyed how flavorful each dish was. I'd come back here 200% and would say this is the most authentic and delicious soba spot in OC.
Great place, i was so happy with my hot soba. I literally felt like i was back in japan. Definitely recommend it. The staff was so polite and friendly. Great for a family dinner, date night or a group of friends. The food is much better when you eat at the restaurant.
